Used work truck prices cool for the first time in three years

After three years of tight supply, used medium-duty prices fell 4 percent quarter over quarter. The softening is sharpest in box trucks: a 2021 Hino 268 with under 90,000 miles now trades around 15 percent below its 2024 peak.

Cab-overs are holding value better than conventionals. A clean Isuzu FTR still commands a premium in coastal markets, while the Ford F-650 and Freightliner M2 106 have the deepest discounts in the middle of the country.

For buyers, the math is shifting: a three-year-old truck with a documented service history is once again meaningfully cheaper than new. For sellers, listing before the fall order season protects the most equity.
