Kenworth expands its medium-duty line for vocational buyers

Kenworth is pushing its medium-duty trucks deeper into vocational territory. The T270 gains a 12,000 lb front axle option, and the T280 adds factory-installed PTO provisions aimed at crane and service bodies.

The bigger news is ordering simplicity. Kenworth now bundles body-builder wiring, frame drilling and PTO prep into three fixed packages, which cuts weeks off upfit time for common dump and tow configurations.

Dealers say the T370 remains the volume pick for municipalities, but the updated T280 undercuts it on price for fleets that do not need the heavier rear axle.
